On a trip back home several months ago I was helping to "organize" my Mom's wine collection and discovered several bottles scattered among the cooler and the rack. Knowing that she doesn't drink much wine unless company is around I graciously offered to help her dispose of a couple of bottles before they passed into the great beyond and started the journey to vinegar. I opened a bottle last night to accompany the chicken parmigiana my wife prepared and it was quite nice. For some reason it's not in the same league as it's older sibling, but it's certainly worthy of consideration. With 2 more bottles in the cooler this will be at the forefront along with the '96 Chardonnay that I liberated along with it.
Notes:
Smooth, mildly aromatic and pleasing on the palate. Discreet, nutty
aromas, with a hint of pear. It was a better standalone wine in 98/99 but
sits up nicely beside slightly acidic dishes. Nice finish with no
surprises. 6/10
